What is a PoE splitter – and what do you need it for?

A PoE splitter (Power over Ethernet) is the clever solution if you want to supply devices without their own network power connection easily and cleanly.

Here’s how it works:

single network cable (Ethernet) transmits data and power at the same time. A PoE splitter then separates the two again and provides the following:

Network (RJ45)

Current (e.g. 5 V or 12 V)
